ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Gary Kubiak bristled at the suggestion he might still be worn down after a week away from football. No, do I look weak? the Denver Broncos coach said.Well, truthfully, his voice was a little bit faint.Thats probably because Ive been hollering a lot this morning, Kubiak said. But, no, I feel good. And I feel really good just getting out here and getting going again.Kubiak, 55, returned to work Monday, a week after his doctor ordered him to take time off after he suffered a complex migraine and was hospitalized overnight following Denvers loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 9.Kubiak certainly had plenty to howl about.During his absence, the Broncos, led by special teams coach Joe DeCamillis, were beaten 21-13 by the San Diego Chargers, who snapped their 10-game losing streak in the AFC West and Denvers NFL record 15-game divisional road winning streak. The loss followed a familiar script: slow start, poor play up front, conservative calls. It was good just being able to have our leader back, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said. He kind of lights a fire under everybody, get everybody going, coaches, players, everybody. So, its good to have that accountability back in the room.He just kept it straightforward with us, told us what we needed to do. We need to get it going in the right direction. I mean, thats what you need to hear from your coach, especially after you lost two games like that, Harris said. He just pretty much told us the last two games just pretty much looked the exact same, so we need to change what we do.The Broncos (4-2) host Houston (4-2) on Monday night in Denvers first game against former longtime backup QB Brock Osweiler and Kubiaks first game against his former team.Kubiak was coach of the Texans in 2013 when he had his first health scare, suffering a mini-stroke during halftime of a game against the Colts. He missed 10 days then and returned, to the coaching box at first.Hes expected to be on the sideline Monday night.Kubiak said his doctors in Denver and Houston have compared notes but he doesnt believe the two medical incidents are related. He said his latest health scare was basically a warning sign that he needs to get more sleep.I feel really good, Kubiak said. I got too much rest, unfortunately. I didnt want it. But I got it. I feel very good. ... All my tests came back great. So, its good to be back to work. I really missed a few days there. It was really tough to watch, so Im glad to be back.Kubiak watched the Broncos latest loss with his son, Klein, a Broncos scout, from his home in Denver. Its tough. Weve got to play better, Kubiak said. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Josh Browns future with the New York Giants and possibly the NFL is in jeopardy after police released journal entries and emails in which the place-kicker admitted that he repeatedly verbally and physically abused his former wife. The league reacted Thursday by re-opening its investigation into a 2015 domestic abuse complaint made by Browns former wife, though prosecutors said they were closing the criminal case without filing charges because they could not secure key testimony from the woman and other key witnesses. Meanwhile, the Giants announced before traveling to London that Brown wouldnt make the trip for a game Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. The Giants said they want to review the new information released by King County law enforcement officials in Washington and reach a decision on the kickers future with the club, possibly next week.Giants co-owner John Mara said he was upset the new information about Browns history of domestic abuse, adding that he felt it was in the best interest of the team to leave him home.I want to get all the information we can get, Mara said in a radio interview with WFAN. I am certainly disturbed by what we read. He has admitted to us that he abused his wife in the past. I think what is a little unclear is the extent of that, but what we have read about is obviously disturbing.Browns former wife, Molly, alleged more than 20 instances of domestic violence. In a report released by the King County Sheriffs Office that summarized the allegations, Detective Robin Ostrom said the allegations included that he had slammed her into a large bedroom mirror, breaking it; that he had shoved a chair into her leg, bruising it; and that he damaged a bathroom door when he lost his temper with her older son.The report also detailed how the wife anguished over whether to move forward with a prosecution, given the effect it could have on her family.Mara said that the 37-year-old kicker has been undergoing counseling for years, and that the journals were part of his therapy. Mara said the team didnt have access to the latest information when it decided to keep Brown on the roster after the league announced his suspension in late August. The Giants reached an agreement with former Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould late Thursday, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Thursday night. Gould, the Bears career scoring leader, will join the team in London.Brown practiced Thursday but was not in the locker room afterward.Brown was suspended for the opening game of the season by the league for violating its personal conduct policy. The ruling came after the league investigated his arrest.During that investigation, the league said that its investigators made repeated verbal and written attemmpts to obtain any and all evidence and relevant information from the sheriffs office, but were denied.dddddddddddd.The sheriffs office released the journals and emails late Wednesday to several news organizations. The league said law enforcements response limited its investigation. We concluded our own investigation, more than a year after the initial incident, based on the facts and evidence available to us at the time and after making exhaustive attempts to obtain information in a timely fashion, the league said. It is unfortunate that we did not have the benefit or knowledge of these materials at the time.League officials said they would not comment on potential discipline until it reviews the new information.County prosecutors said in their report to police that they would not have been able to put forth a viable case without key testimony from Browns former wife and other key witnesses, including her relatives and friends.I have physically, mentally, emotionally and verbally been a repulsive man, Brown wrote in one journal entry. I have abused my wife. The journal was part of was part of 165 pages of documents that were turned over to authorities by Browns former wife. One of the documents dated more than two years before Browns arrest was called a Contract for Change and appeared to be signed by both the kicker and his former wife.I have controlled her by making her feel less human than me, and manipulated her with money, said one of the eight items in the list. I have disregarded my stepsons feelings and they have witnessed me abusing their mother. In a 2013 email, Brown said he caused his wife to fear him. From the bruise on your leg when we argued ... to the zipper that caught you last April. I am ashamed and disgraced to call myself a husband, Brown said.Browns teammates said they found it tough to talk about the news before the team announced that he would not be traveling with them.I just want him to get himself right and make sure that he is able to overcome these things, receiver Victor Cruz said.Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said that Brown is one of the leaders of the teams Bible studies group. Its kind of hurtful, but I am here for him, because he helped me grow a lot, being a man off the field, Rodgers-Cromartie said. I learned a lot from him. For what he is going through, I hurt for him.Brown is one of the top kickers in the NFL. He scored a career-high 134 points last season. He has made 11 of 12 field goal attempts this season and all eight extra points.---Associated Press writer Gene Johnson in Seattle contributed to this report.---AP NFL websites: http://pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
