The 2016 NFL Draft is almost upon us and that means the culmination of months of work for the general managers and scouts across the league. After poring over hours and hours of player interviews, game tape and testing variables, it will soon be time to make the picks that make the difference between winners and losers in the NFL. And that means there will be significant pressure to get it right. For some teams, that pressure to succeed in the war room in the coming days is greater than ever. Here are six teams I feel absolutely have to come out of this Draft feeling good about their work in Chicago. Beginners guide Why is the Draft important? Cleveland Browns Ben Roethlisberger was selected 11th overall by the Steelers in 2004 after the Browns missed out In recent years, the Cleveland Browns have wheeled and dealed around draft boards and turned their back on the chance to draft genuine NFL superstars such as Ben Roethlisberger, Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr. in the process.Instead, the Browns have collected multiple draft picks and, for the most part, wasted them. So what have the Browns done this year under new management? The very same thing that hurt this club in the past - they have turned down the chance to select the second quarterback in this NFL Draft and must now make good on the multiple picks heading their way over the next three years. The approach makes sense given that the Browns are so devoid of talent and need to fill multiple areas of need. But this time around they have to hit on the multiple selections, especially if Carson Wentz turns out to be a star and the Browns are still searching for their first true franchise quarterback since re-entering the NFL in 1999.Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck will celebrate if the Colts recruit some protection for him The recent drafting history of Colts general manager Ryan Grigson has not been all that great, in my mind. Indianapolis were crying out for an offensive lineman early last year and Grigson spoiled himself by grabbing another wide receiver in Phillip Dorsett when that was not an area of need. The Colts need to add some beef in the trenches - on offense and defense - and have to find a way to get franchise quarterback Andrew Luck some better protection. And this team cannot be pushed around as badly as they have been in recent years on defense.Grigson and head coach Chuck Pagano were at loggerheads last year yet both received four-year contract extensions. Its time for them to make their marriage of convenience work and that means drafting as many big men as possible in the coming days.New York Giants After signing Olivier Vernon, how much is left in the kitty? When the Giants stumbled to the end of a disappointing 2015 campaign, head coach Tom Coughlin paid with his job and was replaced by Ben McAdoo. Many felt the same fate would fall upon general manager Jerry Reese, but he somehow survived and although his seat is hot, he has a chance to re-build a crumbling roster.Reese did a nice job in free agency but massively over-spent in signing Olivier Vernon, Jason Pierre-Paul, Damon Harrison and Janoris Jenkins. Thats not the most financially prudent way to stock your roster and the Big Blue could pay for that extravagance down the road. This Draft is crucial for Reese to find some younger and cheaper players. He should be feeling the heat as Giants owner John Mara said: Every Draft is important but this one more so than usual. Its time to pick it up.Gulp!San Francisco 49ers Will the 49ers try to replace Colin Kaepernick? This time last year the 49ers were suffering through a series of high-profile defections and retirements. And they have yet to even scratch the surface in terms of rebuilding their roster. The Niners had money to spend in free agency but seemingly wanted no part of the spending spree and that puts added pressure on general manager Trent Baalke heading into this NFL Draft.San Franciscos needs are multiple and we have to wonder if they currently have their starting quarterback on the roster in Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers have to stop the bleeding and begin their rebuild and it all begins with this Draft.Denver Broncos Malik Jacksons exit means Denver have large shoes to fill Defending Super Bowl champions dont normally hit too many panic buttons heading into an NFL Draft the following year but the off-season raid of the Denver Broncos has raised the stakes for the Mile High club.It was bad enough for Denver to lose Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan on their Super Bowl defence, but what are they planning to do at quarterback? Brock Osweiler jumped ship and joined in Houston and I have to wonder what the Broncos are going to do about that all-important position in Chicago this week. The Broncos currently have Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian on their roster and, in my mind, neither is anything close to being the long-term answer. Whether it be via a conventional pick or a trade, the Broncos have to do something at quarterback this week.New Orleans Saints Saints may opt to replace Drew Brees or bring in protection for him The Saints are feeling the heat on the defensive side of the ball because they set numerous unwanted records in 2015. Can they upgrade that unit enough in the coming days and not waste yet another season for Drew Brees?Or will they draft the eventual replacement for the 37-year-old Brees? There has been some reported interest in Paxton Lynch out of Memphis but taking a passer in the first round might rock the boat just a tad too much on Thursday night. Its also important to remember that the Saints have some serious salary cap issues and would love to stock their roster with some younger and cheaper players. This is a vital draft for the Saints if they are go get back into playoff contention. Also See:How to watch the DraftBeginners guideOffensive optionsTop 10 Draft momentsCheap Real Air Max . Plenty of everything, as usual, for Russell Westbrook. On a momentous night in the NBA, Thompson had the biggest game with a career-high 60 points and Westbrook continued his sensational season with a sixth straight triple-double.An 11-game schedule stole the show Monday on a night thats long belonged to the NFL. There were so many mesmerizing performances that even otherwise great ones werent good enough to get much notice.Thompsons topped them all, with a 40-point first half in under 19 minutes of Golden States 142-106 victory over Indiana.Thats a feat that I put money on will probably never be touched ever again in the history of basketball, teammate Stephen Curry said.Marc Gasol had a triple-double and James Harden wasnt far off, but Westbrook does that every night. He had 32 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in Oklahoma Citys 102-99 victory at Atlanta, giving him the NBAs longest streak of triple-doubles since Michael Jordan had seven in a row in 1989.Obviously, the league hasnt seen something like this in a long, long time, Thunder coach Billy Donovan said.A look at some other noteworthy developments around the league:KLAYS PLAY: Thompson, who already owns the NBA record with 37 points in a quarter, might have scored many more in this one if the Warriors werent so explosive. He checked out after just 29 minutes and less than three quarters and thought something like 80 couldve been in play if he couldve stayed on the floor.Maybe. I think I could have, maybe one day Ill have the opportunity, he said. But 60 in 29 minutes is not too bad.BEST IN THE WEST: Westbrook, who is averaging a triple-double, was chosen Western Conference player of the week Monday and is probably the leader in the race for the NBAs biggest individual prize, the MVP. He has 11 triple-doubles in 22 games, has led the Thunder to six straight wins and has been so good that hes overshadowing guys like Haarden and Kevin Durant, who are having MVP-caliber seasons themselves.ddddddddddddJust think about what Russell is doing and then theres two, three other guys who are playing great but because of what Russell is doing ... the other guys, you really havent paid attention to, Hall of Famer Magic Johnson said earlier Monday.LEBRON LEADS: Cleveland had lost three straight and then lost guard J.R. Smith to injury early in its game at Toronto, which had won six in a row and would have overtaken the Cavaliers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a victory.Instead, LeBron James scored a season-high 34 points as the defending champions got back on track with a 116-112 victory.I just came out and played the game and the game was flowing very well for me, James said. The shot was feeling very well.MEN IN THE MIDDLE: Gasol had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for his second career triple-double, and Memphis needed all of it to overcome NBA scoring leader Anthony Davis in a 110-108, double-overtime victory over New Orleans. Davis finished with 28 points and 17 rebounds.THIRTYSOMETHING: Damian Lillard and Dwyane Wade staged a duel in Chicago, with Lillards 30 points helping Portland overcome Wades 34 in a 112-110 victory. The Lakers Lou Williams went for 38 points in a 107-101 loss to Utah, following his 40-point game in Memphis two nights earlier for the first back-to-back 30-point games of his 12-year NBA career.INJURY ISSUES: Two of the NBAs best teams lost guards to knee injuries Monday. Smith will return to Cleveland for further examination after getting hurt when he landed after a jumper in the first quarter in Toronto, while Tony Parker left a victory in Milwaukee that kept San Antonio undefeated on the road. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said the veteran could be out a while. ' ' '
