The San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks face each other Monday at the AT&T Center in San Antonio in a battle between two teams moving in opposite directions on the NBA superhighway.San Antonio (10-3) has won five straight games after an uncharacteristic three-game losing streak at home. The Spurs head back to the Alamo City after beating Sacramento and the Los Angeles Lakers on the road last week and after will be fresh for Mondays contest after a weekend of rest.On Friday against the Lakers, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points each to lead seven players in double figures in a 116-107 victory as San Antonio remained undefeated on the road (7-0).Tonight we got 30 assists, which is a good number for us, Spurs center/forward Pau Gasol said. We want to continue to do that because we have so many talented and great players that when we move the ball were hard to stop.San Antonio shot .564 from the field and .947 from the charity stripe against the Lakers and set a season high for points in a quarter with 39 in the third. We are concentrating on moving the ball better and its been improving with each game, San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. The win was No. 1,099 for Popovich, which broke a tie for seventh on the NBAs career wins list with former Spurs coach Larry Brown.Through its first 13 games, San Antonio leads the league in free-throw percentage and is second in 3-point shooting percentage. The Spurs have now won at least 10 of their first 13 games in 11 of the past 20 seasons. San Antonio is leading the Southwest Division and is third in the Western Conference.Conversely, Dallas (2-10) has lost five straight outings, including Saturday nights 97-87 defeat at Orlando in which the Mavericks were outscored 31-18 in the final quarter.Guard Jonathan Gibson, who was signed by injury-depleted Dallas on Nov. 17, appeared in his second career NBA game and scored a game-high 26 points for the Mavericks to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 32 minutes. Gibson became the first undrafted player to score at least 26 points in his first or second career NBA game since Lloyd Daniels of the Spurs scored 26 at Denver on Nov. 7, 1992 (in his second NBA game).Seth Curry (13), Wesley Matthews (13) and Harrison Barnes (11) also scored in double figures for Dallas in the loss to the Magic. The Mavericks continue to battle on without four key players: Forward Dirk Nowitzki (right Achilles strain) and guards Jose Juan Barea (left calf strain) and Deron Williams (left calf strain) are not with the team and guard Devin Harris (right great toe sprain) is out for Mondays game.Im not gonna put lipstick on a pig here -- weve got some things we have to deal with, Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. We have to play very efficiently, very tough, very together right now.Ive been through tough stretches with multiple key personnel out before, and its very difficult. But its very important for me to stay positive and keep coaching these guys and keep talking about ways to put us in position to win. We gotta do the right things and find a way to get it done. Theres nothing easy about this.Barnes is averaging a career-high (team-high) 21.3 points per game this season. Hes led Dallas in scoring in eight of the teams first 12 games. We just have to keep the fight going, Barnes said. You cant feel sorry for yourself. You cant get down. The schedule doesnt get any easier. We just have to bring the same fight make or miss and just keep the energy up.The Mavericks are last in the NBA in defensive 3-point percentage while the Spurs are second in the league in shooting from beyond the arc, showing San Antonio is not a good matchup for Dallas at this stage in the season. The Spurs have won five straight and 19 of the last 23 regular-season meetings with Dallas, including all four contests between the teams last season. San Antonio has won 11 in a row at AT&T Center against the Mavericks.Fake Soccer Jerseys . The judges scored it 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 for Jones (19-1). It was the champions closest call. Last year, Currys Golden State Warriors beat James Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2 in a cracking contest, and this year promises to be equally fun. Our resident US sportswriter Alex Ferguson has your preview…. How do the NBA Finals work? Its a best-of-seven series, which means the first to four wins will claim the 2016 NBA Championship. The team with home court advantage should the series go to a final game (which we are all hoping it will) is Golden State, thanks to their record-breaking regular season record. If it goes that far, the seven games will be spread over 17 days, which adds recovery time (as well non-stop commentary, we should think!).Who won the last time they met? Golden State won both regular season games, one by six points and one by 132-98, in which Warriors coach Steve Kerr refused to call the dogs off… or LeBron and team stopped playing. You decide which. You know LeBron will be thirsting for revenge, while Curry & Co will be equally excited about continuing the dethroning of King James.Who are the Warriors key men? Steph Curry and Klay Thompson basically wiped away the Oklahoma City Thunders hopes of a Game 7 victory in the Western Conference Finals by blitzing them with three-pointers in the third quarter, winning the period 29-12.They hit SEVENTEEN in total. Oh, and Draymond Green is going to be defensively powerful, as will Andre Iguodala. But the biggest weapon for the Warriors isnt exactly defence - it is punishing teams that miss. Because the Warriors dont miss very often, and when they are hot, they are scalding. And the for the Cavaliers? For Cleveland, its not only LeBrons world. JR Smith, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving - have both been models of efficiency, and will have to do the same to the Warriors. We know what damage they can do from tthree-point range.ddddddddddddJames and Love will both be key defensively - as will Tristan Thompson. All of them will not only have to negate three-pointers being thrown from Curry and Thompson, but also Green in the paint. And as weve seen with Green, he doesnt play very nicely, either. Another key point is that Irving and Love will be available for the Cavs. Irving only played in Game 1 of the Finals last year while Love missed out entirely - and both were sorely missed. Why will Golden State win again?Because after struggling in the first half against Oklahoma City, the Warriors found their mojo and were virtually untouchable. That mojo is going to continue and James & Co may be unable to deal with it. Love and Irving might be consistent at the moment, but they wont have played under quite the pressure that they will when they face Golden States offence. Can Cleveland win?First of all, Cleveland has got the thirst. They have lost the last four games to Golden State - including two in the NBA Finals - and the last one was an absolute rout.Say what you want about Curry, LeBrons still the best all-round player in the game from both ends of the court. The Cavs have a three-headed monster in James, Love and Irving that lost two straight at Toronto after looking like they would cruise to a 4-0 victory, and then rebounded to win the next two. They have also got Smith, who is shooting as well as any Splash Brother at the moment - he leads all players in NBA three-point efficiency during the play-offs - and they can play defence.OK, so who will win?I am going to go for Cleveland in six games, setting up a great rivalry! Cleveland are a 7/4 underdog, by the way - and Golden State a massive 4/9 favourite. Also See:Warriors advance to NBA finalsCavaliers end Raptors dream ' ' '
